Hi Robert,

Couldn't agree more, this whole series is superb, but volume 6 is simply overwhelming. I'm looking forward to volume 7 with great anticipation.

On the subject of Mr. Brautigam, the new issue of Fanfare contains an article about another label, ARS Produktion, at the end of which a spokesman for that label mentions that a conductor they've worked with, Michael Alexander Willens, and his band, the Cologne Academy, "along with Dutch fortepianist Ronald Brautigam...have begun recording a cycle of Mozart piano concertos for the Swedish label BIS." Whatever the aural equivalent of mouth watering is, that's what I'm experiencing.

Are you able to share any specifics at this time? Thank you.

Bill

You and me alike - I'm literally drooling.

But, the first recording is scheduled for November of this year, so a lot of patience is required. PC 9+12.

Best - Robert

Robert,

Any plans for Mr. Brautgam to record the Mozart piano concertos? I thought your recording of the concertos for two and three pianos was terrific.

Mozart: after having finished 17 solo LvB SACD:s and 3 Concerto SACD:s, yes, why not. We musicians often have long lives.

Dear Zeus,

I notice that you STILL advertise new BIS SACD:s without the Multichannel logo. May I reiterate that all new BIS Hybrid SACD:s are in Surround 5.0. ALL.
I undertake to personally tell you well in advance, should anything new come out that isn't.

Thanks for correcting Bach Cantatas 44 and van Beethoven Solo Piano Works 7, both of which are 5.0 in addition to Stereo. Anyone listened to the Hammerklavier Sonata yet? No? Good. Then you have something to look forward to!

Robert

Robert,

You must have been asked the question (at least) a million times but are there any plans for Mr. Sudbin to record the 4 Rachmaninov piano concertos with BIS?

And I am happy for each and every time - it shows an interest in this remarkable artist.
The answer is: probably yes. At least the 4th Rach PC (original version) will be released in September, coupled with the Medtner 2nd.

Happy listening.

Dear Bissie,

What about Sudbin playing Beethoven´s 4th and 5th? I´m really looking forward to that. Brautigam, too? (His Beethoven sonatas really are terrific).

Any news?

SACDs of course...!

Yours,

Gussy

Sudbin has recorded No. 4. No 5 will be recorded in June 2010 in Minnesota. The BIS-SACD-1758 is scheduled for November 2010.

Brautigam has recorded No 4. Coupling is the Violin Concerto in its piano disguise. BIS-SACD-1693 will be released in December this year.

Brautigam will record No 5 and the Choral Fantasy in December this year. BIS-SACD-1793 is scheduled for June of 2010. Both cases the Norrköping SO under Andrew Parrott. Eric Ericsson Chamber Choir in the Fantasia.

At least I am impatiently waiting.

Best - Robert

Dear Robert,

Many thanks for your info - it´s all great news!

Don´t worry about duplicating the same programme as other labels - I, for one, will be buying them all!!!

All the best,

Gussy

Whilst we are talking about your great line up of pianists can I ask am I right in thinking you have or are about to record some Prokofiev with Freddy Kempf and the Bergen PO?
