Thread: Albums worthy of SA-CD format?

I recently bought a SA-CD player after hearing rave reviews.

...so far I've really only found one album that I felt justified the elevated pricetag (the Blue Coast Collection; www.bluecoastrecords.com), which is from an audiophile specialty label...but, at this point, it's the only release they have!!

Can anyone direct me to other similar quality labels/releases?
(NOT the "remastered for SA-CD" garbage)

If you are willing to dip into Classical Music, there are literally hundreds of them!

For starters:

Bartok: Concerto for Orchestra etc. - Zoltan Kocsis

Beethoven: Complete Piano Sonatas Vol. 1 - Igor Tchetuev

Beethoven: Symphony No. 3, Leonore - Haitink

Beethoven: Symphony No. 7 - Kleiber

Berlioz: Overtures - RPO/Gibson

Bernstein: Symphonic Dances from "West Side Story" - RPO/Davis

Bruckner: Symphony No. 7 - Kreizberg

Dvorak: Cello Concerto, Dumky Trio - Jean-Guihen Queyras

Dvorak: Symphony No. 8, The Wild Dove, The Noon Witch - Kreizberg

Dvorak: Symphony No. 9, Tchaikovsky: Overture "Romeo and Juliet" - Kreizberg

Franck: Symphony in D minor, Chausson: Symphony in B flat - Janowski

Falla: The Three Cornered Hat etc. - Pons

Mahler: Symphony No. 2 - Fischer

Mussorgsky, Tchaikovsky (Stokowski Transcriptions) - Serebrier

If you are willing to look at classical music, then a whole new world opens up and multichannel SACD particularly shines on a recording of an organ in a big space. I'm trying to buy Bach: The Four Great Toccatas and Fugues - E. Power Biggs which should really show what multichannel SACD is capable of.

I have that and it is truly a GREAT recording!

WOW...implying that all remastered SACD's are garbage??? Pretty harsh....I guess that Pink Floyd's DSOTM, all of the Moody Blue's, Elton John...it is all garbage...NOT

Anyway, classical is the best bet, but if you still feel that all remastered stuff is garbage, then by all means stay away from the Living Stereo releases, any of the Sony single layer releases of Bruno Walter, George Szell etc...
