I'm looking at moding my SONY or buying a SA-60. Is it possible to mod my SONY and have it sound better then the SA-60 stock.

Might be. Depends on how bad the internal components of your Sony are. I have an Allen Wright-Vacuum State modded SACD player and it beats any audiophile 10.000$ player I've heard. By the way, Allen modds the DV-50 to a heavenly level, and he says the DV-60 is not as good. You might as well find a second-hand DV-50 and mod it. And as far as I know your Sony doesn't have a good enough basis for a really good upgrade.

Apparently nothing any of us should take seriously. Some people just like to stir the pot to see what comes up....then have a private laugh at those who rise to the bait. Troll is the word, is it not?

Bruce, I'm certain you're right, though it's an expression I've never come across before!

doohickey
A noun
1 dohickey, dojigger, doodad, doohickey, gimmick, hickey, gizmo, gismo, gubbins, thingamabob, thingumabob, thingmabob, thingamajig, thingumajig, thingmajig, thingummy
something whose name is either forgotten or not known
Category Tree:
entity
╚object; physical object
╚whatchamacallit; stuff; whatsis; sundry; sundries
╚dohickey, dojigger, doodad, doohickey, gimmick, hickey, gizmo, gismo, gubbins, thingamabob, thingumabob, thingmabob, thingamajig, thingumajig, thingmajig, thingummy

from: http://www.wordreference.com/definition/doohickey

KentB did not leave any information about him (or her) self. But I suspect Doo-Hickey is an expression from the southern part of the U.S. - probably from the Ozarks or Tennesee mountains, but that is just a guess.

As for "bad-boy", it is likely from the same ethnicity.

Many thanks - one is never too old to learn new expressions! And there so many to choose from in the list you've kindly supplied. Doodad looks promising.

According to my dictionary, "doohickey" is a neologism combining "doodad" and "hickey". All three are of 20th-century origin; doohickey was coined by servicemen but the source words have no clear record. Putting it all together we get:

"Say, what's in that doohickey?"

"Allen Wright installed some doodads at great expense. When my wife found out how much it cost she stopped giving me hickeys for a month!"

"Hmm. Is that a good thing or a bad thing?"
