PentaTone still has some stock of empty boxes with the narrow hinges. They can be ordered for € 1,00 a piece plus actual shipping costs from our offices in the Netherlands to destination.

Pentaman

Pentaman,

Assuming that these "narrow hinge" SJBs are the type where the hinges are roughly half the thickness/depth of the other type of SJB, I'd be interested in ordering some. Apologies in advance if I'm missing something, but I've had a look over your website, but haven't noticed how I would contact your offices. Are you able to advise the best way for me to proceed?

Thank in advance.

Any leads on getting a hold of "narrow hinge" super jewel boxes? I clicked on the link above and couldn't find any. I've also searched the net and haven't had any luck. Thanks!

I'd be interested too, but I'd have to wonder if PentaTone still has any at this point.

I'm interested as well and I was wondering if we could get the small hinged super jewel cases custom manufactured if we had an order large enough say 1,000 units? Any ideas?

It is ironic that the BIG 4 recording companies seem to be switching to Super Jewel Box Cases for ordinary RBCD's. Causes me no end of grief when thumbing through HMV racks. It used to be a surefire way of finding the SACD's

I doubt it. We're talking retooling a facility here, and the grand total for 1000 units would probably be $1500-$2000. Don't see how they'd be willing to do that...

100,000 maybe.....

Why not search the earlier threads on this topic for links

I've found a supplier here in Australia for the newer large hinge Super Jewel Box cases ... and I can get them for, I think, about 80c (aus) each ... (case + separate insert) ... which seems quite reasonable, but the minimum order size is 400 (or maybe 200 with some arm twisting, if I can convince them to sell a half-carton).

I would be happy to buy 100 for my own use ... and was wondering if any of the other Australia-based SA-CD.net readers would be interested in lots of 50 or more? You can have them at cost ...
If a couple of people are interested, I'll order a carton.

It would appear to me that JPC no longer have any, as I ordered some about a month ago (using the url link details in the earlier post), but ended up with a load of the new style wide hinge variety. Not a big deal for me, although I did have a preference for the older style.

It may be worth contacting Pentaman, as Pentatone may still have some stock. Alternatively, depending upon where you are, it may be worth contacting Sarem Media Packaging in the UK. As part of my job, I spoke to them within the last 6 months, and they confirmed that they had the older "narrow hinge" variety in stock. My enquiry for the company I work for had nothing to do with SJBs, but the person I spoke to definately sounded as though they knew what they were talking about. I can't remember the exact details of my conversation back then, but a very large minimum order quantity was mentioned - something like a pallet load. The newer style could be ordered (if I remember correctly) in something like a quantity of 100 pieces. Here below is the link which I hope might prove useful to someone:-

I suppose it's quite a "tricky" situation with this sort of thing. I could imagine that most companies don't want to deal with tiny/private orders for these things. Once they have to get an employee (even on minimum wage) to pick out a small number, package and post the goods, something that has a low value ends up looking relatively expensive on a price per unit basis. Perhaps I'm missing something though. Good luck with your searching.

Just out of interest, how many are you after sentinel190125?
