Uh...if you're ordering through Amazon, then it's Amazon who's doing that. They may be not a good seller, but putting extra blame like that isn't in the least fair.

Let's get this straight. I did NOT order through Amazon. I ordered directly from DVD4Music.com
They should disclose that they are charging your credit card immediately following placement of the order, regardless of whether the item(s) is in stock.
Furthermore, they should disclose to International buyers that they might LOSE MONEY in the process, due to currency conversion. This is absolutely a crooked operation.

Whew! I almost ordered a rare SACD from them (Alison Krauss + Union Station Live). They had it listed for 29 pounds. Then I found it at an Amazon seller (CD24 in Germany) for 19 pounds. I hope they are more reputable (as well as being cheaper).

The one SACD that I knew they would have (Langgaard: Symphonies Nos. 2 & 3 - Dausgaard) came fairly quickly, but I waited and waited on the Krauss disc. Eventually they sent some messages that it was out of stock and that they would have to order more from their distributor. The waiting game continued. Eventual I gave up and cancelled, then they said it was not available anymore. Neither CD24 or DVD4Music are listing it on Amazon. I wonder if the problem is in the distributor not updating its database very often (at least not until someone orders an out-of-print item).

The name of the person running this business seems to be Simon Fuller.

No, it's Simon Draper. Fuller is a producer.

This site supports sales through Amazon, which does provide recourse for third-party sellers that don't behave. If you've had bad experiences with sellers not endorsed by this site (or by bypassing Amazon's safety net) then maybe it would be appropriate to take your complaints elsewhere.

I understand your request. I just thought others should be aware of DVD4music.com's business practice. I apologize for posting it on this board. I mistakenly came across it when googling DVD4music customer service issues.

I've bought a lot of SACDS in Caiman and other Amazon resellers without any problem. Once I bought a Moody Blues SACD but the cover doesn't explain that it's a SACD. Caiman sent to me another one with the same problem and them I offered to return one to the seller. Caiman gave me the disc.

I've had excellent experiences with Caiman/Caiman Outlet, Import CDs, Moviemars, DVD Legacy, Newbury_Comics, and Herman-Street Music.

Me too.

I'm an Amazon Marketplace seller and Amazon handles the payments. When an Amazon seller lists on Amazon they are SUPPOSED TO HAVE THE ITEM LISTED IN STOCK!

I can tell you as soon as you purchase your credit card is charged and the seller gets a notification from Amazon to ship, if you are not able to ship within a maximum of two business days YOU ARE REQUIRED TO REFUND THE BUYER THEIR ORDER COMPLETELY or if the customer orders more than one item and whatever is not in stock must be REFUNDED plus the shipping!

If you let Amazon know they are not actually stocking items but waiting until they get an order to try to obtain it I do believe they will be reprimanded.

Amazon marketplace is not designed to be a special order network but to offer competitive prices on items people actually have for sale.

My other advise is to not order, unless the seller's comments says it is an SACD.

Here is my description of a new SACD I'm selling and I still have half a dozen in stock:

My Comments: "SACD is BRAND NEW factory sealed with perfect Super Jewel case. It is a Hybrid SACD that has a high resolution DSD stereo program plus a CD layer making it playable on all SACD and CD players. NOT a cutout, NOT a club edition but the authentic full price edition."

Here is Comments from Caiman: "Brand new Item. CD, DVD, Book, VHS more than 400 000 titles to choose from. ALL days Low Price!"

This is why I have never ordered from Caiman, as they have never indicated if they truly have the SACD version. I have bought a lot of SACDs and DVD Audio's from Amazon sellers and 100% of them said SACD or DVD-Audio in the comments, if they don't put SACD or DVD-Audio in the comments I assume it is a CD. Could be an SACD but I would rather buy from someone who knows it's an SACD and says so even if it costs 50 cents more.

I'm sorry if I've caused any confusion by joining in in the conversation about DVD4Music here. I did not end up with them via Amazon.

Even though I'm aware the company is not one of this site's vendors I think it's appropriate to discuss in this forum, to caution other buyers. In fact it reflects well on Amazon by comparison. I just agree it should not have been under the banner of this thread but in a thread of its own.

I buy a lot of SACD's en MFSL cd's via Amazon marketplace (com , uk and fr). My experience is generally quite positive. One seller to avoid like the plague is CD24.de (Palmirah on uk website). I had ordered 4 copies op Alison Krauss Live sacd as they claimed to have the item in stock. After a lot of false promises and claiming the items were on their way, they eventually admitted it couldnt be delivered (after TWO months). Due to the currency rate changes the whole thing actually cost me money even though i got a refund.

With another seller I am having trouble getting the refund of the shipping cost (for returning a falsely listed Item).

Peter

I've ordered many times from Caimen, and while (especially in older times) I've had an issue or two, I don't think I've ever gotten the wrong CD. I certainly have never gotten the wrong format. In fact I just ordered an SACD released in both formats for a pretty cheap price from them -- we'll see if the streak holds.
Amazon DOES let you contact a seller and ask before hand, which I have done on occasion with dual inventory stuff or other potential issue (like if I know there's an MHS version...).
