There's a seller on ebay who somehow gets some of the Universal Japan SACDs that are long oop. It's not unusual for these to go for hundreds of dollars. A while ago, he was asking $800 for the Universal Tannhauser SACD!
Cripes, I've got a dozen or more of these ...
Ah yes, Tannhauser under Otto Gerdes - who was allegedly fired as a producer by Karajan after he unwisely addressed the maestro as 'My dear colleague'...

Someone is probably gonna flame me, but here goes:
I recently noticed that David Elias' SACDs, "Crossing" and "The Window" are now available as hi-res downloads from iTrax.com. Of course, if you want to burn an actual hi-res disc that you can toss into a player, it has to be... DVD-Audio. Sorry.
While "Crossing" is still readily available as a SACD, prices for "The Window" seem to be shooting upward. iTrax now provides a viable hi-res alternative, but since we don't have home SACD burning capability there is no such option.
Just in case anyone is curious: http://itrax.com/Pages/ArtistDetails.php?aID=a3352cca8929e29db43ddae2fcf001bc

Wow! I was just about to include the two David Elias SACDs in my bulk resale to Academy Records but, I guess, I will hang on to them for "private" sale. Thanks for the heads up.
(I also have the Allison Kraus "Forget About It" SACD if anyone cares. :-)

When I first started collecting SACDs three years ago, I came across David Bowie's "Reality" for 1500 pounds on AmazonUK (and asked myself what am I getting myself into) and at the time, the pound was over $2.00 as opposed to the US dollar. Since then, if I want an SACD I buy it before it goes OOP. NO SACD was/is worth $3,000.00. NOW is the time to go through the USED CD bins of your local record store (even chains) as people turn in SACDs without really knowing what they are (and they can be had for a song). Happy hunting.

Just to be nosy, I went into AmazonUK and discovered that the current used price of Bowie's Reality on SACD is now a more canny 59.99 pounds....a far cry from 1500! Not that I really care as I have in on Dualdisc (albeit in DD 5.1) but comes complete with videos and it probably cost me US less than $15.
