I hate to seem like the world's biggest fanboy, but Fischer's Mahler 6 made that work come alive for me for the first time! And his Mahler 2 went straight to the top of my list--- and I have 12 other recordings I really wouldn't want to do without. Instead of a sappy wallow, Fischer's Rachmaninoff 2 was magnificent. Needless to say, I'm really eager for Ivan Fischer's Mahler 4--which I expect to receive sometime next week.

The reason I'm posting all this today is that people in the US who may faint when they see Amazon's price, will be glad to know that Crochet and MDT are MUCH lower, including shipping to the US. I got mine for 15.62 USD SHIPPED to the USA.

I really hope that most of us can support Channel Classics for sticking with SACD and superb musicianship.

I have both Fischer M2 & M6, the M2 is and has been my demonstration SACD, the much praised San Francisco/MMT performance really sounds boring once you hear the Fischer performance.
I am ready for the Fischer M4, what is the URL for MDT and or Crochet?

Crochet is one of the vendors that supports this site and you will find a link in the upper right hand portion of this page. My experience with Crochet has been excellent.

Click on the Crochet thing in the upper right hand corner----

That way SA-CD.net gets a little portion of your purchase.

The price shown includes VAT--- which didn't apply in my case.

MDT is at www.mdt.co.uk Their shipping is slightly cheaper, but supporting this site is a good thing, right?

PS I agree about the MTT Mahler 2. Nice chunks, and a climax that surely is among the most thrilling! But overall--- ehhhh. I've kept it, but it's probably my least played. For me Fischer is #1, Gielen #2, Stokowski's BBC #3--- with my others all very fine and mood-dependent.

You cannot be serious! I am an unrepentant Fischer stalker.... surely that ranks above 'world's biggest fanboy'

Anyway, i've heard him live in Amsterdam...

I stalked him, too. We planned a trip to Budapest a while back and I sought out an interview with him. He was delightful, patient and entertaining. What really impressed me was his focus on the music that moves him and on communicating with the audience. Sat in on a full-force rehearsal of the Bach B-minor. Thrilling.

Hear Hear!

I am getting mine from Crochet.

Wish it were the Prokofiev 6th however. I live in Albany NY and my experience with Crochet has always been pleasant and beneficial to my pocketbook!

Although they are not linked to this site, Presto in the UK are even cheaper than Crotchet on most items and have one-hell of a terrific website which is easy-pezy to navigate. Why not try them? I use them as my UK source.
