Would you recommend this type of chip? I gather Pioneer may source similar types of chips from other manufacturers for European and Asian markets those chips may be made in Taiwan for instance.
thanks for the reply

I don't really know enough to say, but I would probably prefer the DSD1792 since it has better specs, and doesn't have an internal analog filter like the DSD1791. I'm sure on-chip filter capacitors don't rate well with the audiophile crowd.

I'm flirting with the idea of modding the player to use the DSD1792, but the control signals will have to be identical (I'm not willing to go as far as intercepting and changing the signals sent to the DAC.)

Well, I'm not an engineer but I do enjoy the multichannel sound of my new Yamaha DVD 2300 "universal" player as it plays through my new Yamaha V-2400 Receiver. The Z-1 and Z-9 were just a tad too big for my entertainment cabinet and I didn't think I'd need all that horsepower for a 20'X 20' room. I invested the extra $ into a TiVo and eventually I'll get a new HD monitor and some side surround speakers. I have put my beloved vinyl collection back into storage.

Having just aquired a Pioneer 747...
I have been buying Sacds and hoping to start recording my own DVDAs from vinyl...at 192/24 rez...Looking into the usual mods,,,Black Gates, clock and Dac/Op Amps when I spotted this thread...Before starting, I havent even opened it up yet and suspect that it has Switched Mode power supplies which I feel should be looked at as well....Have seen simple Cap/inducter filters used on other models and of course shielding.....
I had been advised of the BB1790 only to find the 1791 now 1792 when someone suggested a 1796 Even newer that may be a half way house upgrade between these two...It was also suggested to use Op amps 2132 but Ive been unable to locate these.Any Suggestions would be appreciated.....Dave
