Anyone heard this? I did a search and couldn't find any reviews. Though the Masayuki Kino (on Exton) isn't without some merit, I'm still after a great performance on SA-CD of these seminal works.

Unfortunately, Rachel Podger recorded her set for Channel just before they started putting everything out on SA-CD.

I am just listening to the Tacet sampler 2004/2005. Most of the tracks are disappointing concerning the sound. - The violin in the Prelude of Partita III sounds shrill and distant. I suppose, it is PCM at 44,1 khz. Compared with Hilary Hahn (Sony CD) the CD sounds much better! - I also hope, that Julia Fischer will be a good alternative. How good a violin can sound on SACD can be heard on the two Rachel Podger SCADs (Channel Classics): The Vivaldi and especially the new Mozart Violin Sonatas, which has been one of my favorites during the last weeks: Great interpretations, a bit romantic, though the piano is a fortepiano, and analogue-like sound, full, warm and with space. Great!!

it was one of the three Bach discs I got for Xmas through jpc (and this site, of course). In my view it's very good sonically, - the performances are smooth and mellifluous and so is the recording. I missed some of the characterisation of Perlmann, but this performance is certainly a four star and maybe a five (Perlmann's a five and a rosette). Sonics are very, very good, - a fine balance between closeness and openness, a very analogue sound indeed. You could listen for hours and not get tired. Equally good on both headphones and speakers. I'd recommend it.

Also very interesting is Ida Händels recording of the sonatas and partitas on a 2 disc set by the Testament label. It was recorded analog in 1995 ! Unfortunately only on RBCD. Testament has several beautifull remasterings also that would really belong on SA-CD.
