Some of these early SA-CDs are getting awfully expensive ...

Unless SACD replaces CD, probably the only time we'll see this title on SACD.

Maybe this is Sony Music's big plan: wait until prices for all these skyrocket then release them again quietly and make a killing :-).

Are the prices being charged by Sony Music or by individual retailers?

I noticed there's a big difference in price just between Amazon.com and Amazon.co.jp for the Wham SACD. The approximate US$30.00 for a Japanese-issued SACD charged by Amazon.co.jp seems "reasonable" ("reasonable" being relative in this case).

There are individuals buying up titles of "special interest" (like the Hong Kong Warner SACDs) and waiting to make a killing. There was a recent sealed HK Warner SACD going for US$60.00 on Yahoo auction. As these "special interest" SACD titles get more rare, prices will go up more.

I assume both distributors and retailers. There are additional costs to cover importation though. But really, all this depends on consumers not being savvy enough to order it directly from the source. There's a lot of sellers on eBay that rely on this fact.

You are right about that.
