I bought the US version, less than $20!

Is this new SHM-SACD from the previous SACD master made by Rudy Van Gelder?

Then it's a complete waste of money, since that mastering is merely decent.

"A love supreme" will also be reissued on SACD by Analogue Productions in a couple of months. That will most likely be the best version.

Does anyone know if this SHM disc is a new mastering from the original analog tapes? I have the earlier SACD issue on Verve and the sound is less than pleasant.

This is the third remastering on SACD (lst by Universal/US: serviceable but not definitive/the second by AP: don't have it so I cannot critique and the upcoming SHM~SACD from Japan).

I do have three of the AP Impulse SACD releases and can only attest that they sound utterly fantastic and I have a fourth on the Way: Ben Webster: See You At The Fair.

Since they are available on Amazon US from third party vendors at a nice discount (usually $21-22 plus shipping), I consider them a bargain as compared to their Japanese counterparts.

And, as usual, the better your system, the better they will sound because AP is on a roll.
