So the only difference other than WIFI, is what they call "IP content noise reduction". any clue what that means ?

No. I already said only difference is wireless.

My assumption here is that whilst all Sony BD players will convert DSD bitstream to PCM, models below S570 will do so at a lower sample rate (88.2/24).

Doubt any difference but I will check

176.4

I checked it on my S470 because I was puzzled by previous answers. My results are as follows (audio over HDMI):

Depending on VIDEO output resolution (HDMI or component):

* all SD video with multi channel SACD:
- DSD 2 channels (out of 5/6)
- PCM 5/6 channels 44.1 kHz

* all HD video with multi channel SACD:
- DSD 5/6 channels
- PCM 5/6 channels 176.4 kHz

* any video resolution with 2 channel SACD:
- DSD 2 channels
- PCM 2 channels 176.4 kHz

Seems to be a shortcoming of the HDMI protocol (intend to check it myself when the time allows).

I cannot tell anything about the amplitude resolution (16 or 24 bit) as my reseiver does not display it. Plese anybody else might check it.

Why those facts are not contained in the techical data of the devices (not even in the users manual)?

I also have the BDP-S470 player and was suprised that no-one else has mentioned the tick that occurs between tracks when playing SACD's. Is anyone else noticing this sound?

The video bit rate determines what bit rate audio it can handle. Most players require video output resolution of at least 720p for HD audio.

I don't get this sound.

I have noticed this on the Sony BDP-S370 and S770 models. It seems to occur with PCM -> HDMI but not necessarily DSD -> HDMI, and not necessarily all SACD's (I speculate it may relate to decompressing DST Data?). It may also relate to the specific chipsets used in the players. For example the CXD2750AQ is an early Sony-Philips DSD Decoder and I quote from the manual:

"2) Fade processing The CXD2750AQ also performs soft muting of the data associated with the start and stop of playback and errors in the data. This is a fade in/fade out function that takes a few milliseconds and prevents click and other transient noise. (See figure 5.)"

The Sony clicking is widely reported on the Internet.

Ah, I listen using DSD out, so that is why I get no clicks. I find that my receiver does DSD to pcm or DSD to analogue much better than my player. And so it should.

Hi everybody, I am new...
I have a problem with BDP S470 , can not play SACD on multichannel mode ( plays only stereo).
I tried all possible settings with no results.
My player is connected to Denon AV 2307 by HDMI and digital concentric output.
In CD mode I have multichannel....
Please, what is a problem/
Before I had Sharp dvd with SACD, it had analog output and it worked, now have problems...

No answer, I have to add, that may be the problem is , that HDMI in Sony is 1.4, In Denon is 1.1 ver.
