Hi everybody, I am new...
I have a problem with BDP S470 , can not play SACD on multichannel mode ( plays only stereo).
I tried all possible settings with no results.
My player is connected to Denon AV 2380 by HDMI and digital concentric output.
In CD mode I have multichannel....
Please, what is a problem/
Before I had Sharp dvd with SACD, it had analog output and it worked, now have problems...

The issue are (1) there is no SACD output over digital coax and (2) there is no multichannel on CDs. What version of HDMI does the Denon have? I cannot look it up because there are no links to such a model.

Just to amplify Kal's comments, you should be able to get Mch via HDMI. Possibly there is a setup parameter in the Sony that is forcing stereo rather than Mch playback. Most players in setup allow you to choose the hi rez stereo or Mch version for SACD playback or, alternatively, the "CD layer" of the disk.

Since CD is not Mch, if you are getting Mch on CD playback, it is synthesized Mch because the selected Listening Mode in your AVR is set for a MCH listening mode and not for Stereo.

I would check the manual first, then the respective manufacturers if you have problems.

There's a "known" issue with Sony's BD-370(80) and Denon AV receivers regarding the passing of DSD multichannel signal through the HDMI. From what I know, both companies refuse to provide the firmware upgrade (fix) to this. Multichannel signal, either gets really choppy or doesn't work at all. Friend of mine had to replace his Sony BDP with universal Denon player. Regards

I think the version of HDMI is the clue : 1.1 not support signal from SACD...
A pity I didn`t know this before I bought Sony without full analog multichannel otput.
I have to replace BD player, could you recommend not to expensive with SACD and full analog audio otput?

v1.1 does not support DSD but it should support MCH PCM and the Sony should automatically convert DSD to PCM. However, you should check the Sony setup menu and set it to always convert DSD to PCM. That should work. You should also make sure that the Sony is set to output 720p or higher video resolution as the audio output resolution depends on the video bitrate.

BTW, can you provide a link to a manual or release notes for the Denon. That model number does not come up in Google.

You may consider any of the Oppo players, the Marantz UD5005 (EUR 499), the Yamaha BD-S1067 (EUR 599), or the Pioneer BDP-LX55 (EUR 399?). There are many more options. -BDP

EDIT: Sorry, I just realize you asked for full analog output. All the Oppos have it, as does the Yamaha; the Pioneer doesn't and also *this* Marantz doesn't; for that you'll need the UD7006 (EUR 999?)
