I was very pleasantly surprised, just a few days ago, to 'discover' that this existed - never even seen it before ... and ordered a copy.

Still waiting for my copy to arrive :)

Maybe not of paramount interest to anyone but me. But the cover seems a bit misleading if as Jonalogic says in his review Brendel actually plays a grand piano on this recording?

This instrument looks more like the one in Mozart's Geburtshaus in Salzburg, or possibly the one he played on during his visits in Prague which is on display in the Mozart Museum Villa Betramka. Is there any info regarding the instrument on the cover in the sleeve Jon?
The instruments Mozart himself played sound far too "plinkety plonky" to me.

Chris Hi

Welcome back! Good shoot?

The inside notes say of the cover image 'House of Mozart's birth in Salzburg, Austria. Mozart composed his late operas on this piano'.

So you are correct. Nice one.

Frankly, I'm not sure if Brendel is playing a concert grand or a baby. But it is most assuredly a modern instrument, not a plinky plonk fortpiano, pianoforte, pimped turbocharged harpsichord or whatever.

Cheers

Jon
