Have you noticed how many eloquently written and insightful reviews were posted in order to drown out the inane one-liner by this character?

I have a theory about DeSelby: there is no DeSelby. This is a fictitious name created by God knows who ( ZEUS, care to comment:) )in order to provide us readers with more incendiaries/incentives to contribute meaningful reviews to the column.

Nobody has that kind of SACD collection with such extremely widely diverse musical taste and the time to review those.

Pretty clever tactic if my conspiracy theory holds any water :)

My dear Delerue,
There have been quite a few detailed and insightful reviews on here long before notorious DeSelby appeared. If anything his spam is putting me off from writing and visiting this website. I personally find his collection pretty consistent (all together with the ubiquitous Tchaikovsky’s 1812 overture) and to be honest it doesn’t take any time to type 4 words, unless he is using copy/paste option in which case he can post 20 entries in less time than it took me to write this reply to your post.

Am I wasting my time again on DeSelby????

I don't think it is that diverse. His reviews are focused on jazz/instrumental, but soon he will have to attack classical music and chinese pop, for lack of jazz titles ;)

It also doesn't take much time to write DeSelby-style reviews, after having heard (or just sampled) a disc, because he comments on sound quality only.

Today he posted 3 reviews in 2 minutes ...

I rather enjoy DeSelby's short notes on the jazz discs. These are all reissues and the music is pretty much standard jazz fare that any jazz afficionado should be fairly familiar with from the past. These are made into sacd's for the sound improvement, otherwise, why do them.
Since I have many of the same discs, I find his opinions on the sound to be correct.

You're on a slippery slope stvnharr, and I agree. I posted similar comments about DeSelby recently, but did not find anyone else to agree.

As long as his brief comments on the sonic quality are correct, I vote to not delete them, they are occasionally useful.
