cancelled

Why, because a lot of angry posters would have preferred it in multichannel? Maybe Music Direct should take a hint (as it would also include stereo tracks, as well).

If they go back to do I multichannel mix, I will buy it! Otherwise I am saving my mony for the other goodies, that are supposed to come. But maybe michi can shed some light on this since this was one of the projects he or she (somebody once wrote that michi was female) was allowed to announce...

I am not sure whether a QUAD mix was done with ELO but perhaps Analogue Productions will include this on their upcoming (????????) QUAD Sony SACDs (4.0)! I DO know that at one point Michi even included a photograph of the actual production charts re: Out Of The Blue.......so the legwork has already been done.

@ rammie
Yes, the big part of the money has already been spent so I wonder, why they do not try to get at least something from their investment back...

I e-mailed MoFi this morning about this release.
Their response:

Thank you for your email. As far as MOFI knows, ELO is not cancelled. This release will be in stereo as far as we know at this time.
Thank you for your interest in MOFI.

Best Regards,

I asked someone in the know a few years ago about MCH ELO releases. The response was that the whereabouts of the MCH masters were unknown (at best) or they have been lost. So stereo is likely all we will ever get for ELO, however I will buy this one if and when it is available. I'd really like A New World Record on SACD, just a shame that the MCH Masters are missing as both of these albums would have sounded great with a good 5.1 mix.

got the same response from them.

Still being planned in 2ch stereo

I complained to them about it not being in 5.1

I own multiple copies of ELO albums. Vinyl through CD (remastered ones also).
Will find it hard to shell out more money with only a 2ch version being planned. The last remaster of "Out of the Blue" was quite good.

I would definitely pay all over again for MCH versions

I'm with you on that, Kenwilsonii, but not to long ago the powers that be decided that stereo was all one needed and if you want pop/rock music in 5.1 or 7.1 surround, there's always blu~ray.

And of course, this two channel mentality is also spilling out into classical/jazz SACD releases, as well.

Regarding ELO, it would be up to that group to have their back~catalogue remastered into 5.1 as so many other pop artists have done (REM, the Pixies, Porcupine Tree, Donald Fagen, King Crimson, the Doors, Rush to name a few........

My entire problem with this mentality is that the SACD standard has been further denigrated by eliminating what makes it unique: the ability to include RBCD, MCH and Stereo on one disc and being asked to pay rather outrageous prices for the stereo only experience.

Another moronic example of the record companies giving us what they THINK we need......NOT what we want. No wonder the majors are in a downward spiral..........they haven't been right YET!

The people that still want to pay for music are fooled over and over again by record companies.

They ignore the people that still care about music.
