I can't find on web any shop that sell SACD version of the last Kraftwerk title. Anybody of you knows something about?

It's not released yet.

I don't, either, but at least on the last issue of the italian magazine "Trax" there is an interview with Ralf Hutter, and he confirmed that the SACD version is *actually* on schedule!

That's good to hear!

I've steadfastly refused to buy the double CD, even though the reviews have been excellent, because, if I capitulated, the minute I did, the SACD version release date would be announced...

I just wish their official website would be more informative about the SACD version.

I would like to second the frustration being expressed regarding the delayed release of "Minimum Maximum" on SACD. I in fact recently did buy the CD version, and to my disgust, my SACD player (Marantz SACD 8260) refused to play it! (It appears that when CD's claim to be playable on all available media - ie, when there is fine print on the back of the CD saying something to the effect of, "compatible with CD, SACD, and DVD-A players", then the Marantz 8260 just spits it out... I also encountered this with some Eno CD's I had a little while back, which also claimed to be playable on all available media.)

So, beware... or, could anyone else who has experienced this please respond to this? All other CD's, of course, play just fine on my SACD player, as do all SACDs... so, for those who are unaware, just watch out for the ones that claim to be playable on all and any players...

I don't think releasing a new title on SACD weeks or months AFTER it has been released on CD makes sense, because all the fans will get the CD version as soon as it comes out, even though they may have been potential customers for the SACD. Very few will wait for the SACD or even buy the disc again on SACD. It's a missed opportunity for hi-rez.

Agreed, but this can also be the result of poor planning by the artist or producer, by not having a multi-channel mix ready at the same time as the stereo one.

Or in the case of David Bowie's "Heathen", it took Tony Visconti voluntarily doing a 5.1 mix of one song on the album and playing it for the record company bosses to convince Sony to fund a surround mix and a SACD release for the album.

If more and more big-name producers "see the light", then word will pass on to the artists, who then might insist on getting their albums out on SACD. If someone out there in the industry could convince a producer like Steve Lillywhite, Brian Eno or Daniel Lanois, then we might see some momentum for the format.

You must be referring to the "Copy-Protected" format.
I actually refuse to buy these types of discs. I gather the "copy-protection" method actually decreases the sound quality.
Unlike DualDisc's "CD-layer",I have had no trouble with playback on my Sony CD/SACD player.
And, I go out of my way ie getting the US or Japanese pressing to avoid them if I really like the album.
It appears most Euro releases are CP

Like BIA and WOTW, I feel the first batch should be pressed as hybrids then the second [if required] CDs.

Ironically the EMI "Copy-Protected" Eno Remastered discs come from DSD masters!
Originally intended as hybrids and then shelfed I don't know?
Eno's work is released by Astralwerk in the US and I gather thjey released DVD-A titles in the past and may not be interested. Are the Astralwerk Eno releases CP or CD? I thought they were CD.

As for as SA-CD support, I have written to all of my favourite [living] jazz artists and request they listen to the recordings coming from the Eighty-Eights label and consider releasing SACDs

I would like to eventually purchase "The Man Machine" on hybrid

Thank you, azure, for that valuable piece of information. Copy protected! Who'da thunk it?
