Analogue (Rembrandt) has posted some wonderful reviews on this website but I would just like to add that Miles Davis' SEVEN STEPS TO HEAVEN and SOMEDAY MY PRINCE WILL COME were also re~released in 2010 by Analogue Productions as multichannel (to be exact three track) hybrid SACDs from the original analogue master tapes.

Those who want an alternative from the pricey Japanese imports will do well to seek these remasters out.

And Analogue, I have purchased quite a few discs based on your recommendations (usually SPOT on) and will look forward to more in the coming years.

The musical merits of the two albums aside, which best renders Miles' sound?

The 3 channel SACD mastered from the ORIGINAL analogue master three track masters would be my bet! As with a lot of the recent crop of SHM~SACDs, Japanese held masters which are made from the American master tapes (country of origin of the original recording) are usually second or third generation or in some instances created from 96/24 digital remasters of analogue originals.

Personally, I don't have the Japanese SACD but do own the recent 2010 Analogue Productions version and can attest that it is indeed superb!

If someone has both they will be better qualified than I to do the comparison.

And the AP version has a list price of $30 and one can currently (as right now) procure a Like New copy for under $20 from Amazon (+, of course, s/h).
