I've never bought any of these japanese discs before but have just created an account with CD Japan. I note that two discs of this performance are listed, TOGE - 15047, which is a single layer SACD, and TOGE - 12010 which is a hybrid SACD/CD and is cheaper. I'd be very interested to know if anyone can comment on the sound quality difference between the two. Many thanks

The single layer disc is a repressing. Both are made from the 24/96 transfer done at Abbey Road Studios.

This recording has also been re-mastered by Esoteric and in my opinion the Esoteric version sounds better than the single layer EMI

I forgot I had this and just listened to it for the first time - I like it...
...in fact, could this be the finest piece of classical symphonic/operatic/choralatic music ever? I think it is !!!

I just ordered a copy of this performance on vinyl (1st press) to see how it compares to the SACD. I have some music I prefer to listen to in vinyl and others in digital, so it'll be interesting to see which I prefer of this fabulous piece of music.

This is on HDTracks too - in the full 24/96 resolution used in the remaster, and for half the price of the JSACD.

It sounds like there's a bargain to be had at HDTracks ;)
