I would like to know what your Number One SA-CD is.Not for the music, but for the way the music is presented, the recording, how you wished all albums were
recorded. The one that shows off SA-CD the best. My vote, Modern Cool by Patricia Barber!!!! Fantastic Presentation !!! The music is very enjoyable also!!!

Ivan Fischer's Dvorak 8&9 on Philips was the first SACD I bought and it is still one of the best!
For chamber music the new Channel Classics Beethoven Cello Sonatas is pretty amazing as well.
Cheers

My number one SA-CD is:

Virgil Thomson: The River, The Plow That Broke the Plains
The Symphony of the Air
Leopold Stokowski (conductor)
Vanguar Classic VSD 501.

Also for music, the sonics, the presention, the performace are all perfect and it's a 1960 analog recording!

Thomson: The Plow That Broke the Plains/The River - Stokowski

This one seems quite difficult to get hold of. Does anyone know a UK source?

Thanks, Peter

I have always loved Jorma Kaukonen's "Blue Country Heart", which he recorded with Jerry Douglass and a bunch of other great pickers. It's the most real-sounding recording of acoustic instruments I've ever heard.

I still like this one:

Joe Weed: The Vultures

I believe my original review is still valid concerning the sound quality.

I second both of those 100%.

Also :

the Chailly Mahler 9 from Decca
the Reiner Mussorgsky Pictures and the Pollini Chopin Polonaises, for a couple of reissue recommendations
the Uchida Schubert D568, for a piano recommendation

Cheers
