Oh My! You never know which Oysters will contain the pearls.

These are lovely performances beautifully recorded and played with enormous sensitivity and passion. An unmissable emotional tour-de-force that would probably have been over-looked by the majority through it's overly familiar repertory and little known ensemble.

Think again, this could be the start of a definitive modern set.

I would like to second John's praise for this disc. It is a very interesting recording as the edition used is not the familiar one. These are versions which Mendelssohn went on to revise quite extensively. They are none the worse for it however. The recordings (in stereo in my case) are lovely. I have had a number of very satisfying SACDs recently from ARS Produktion.
