I'm planning to buy myself my early Christmas gift for myself. I want a little better than the entry level up to mid-level. Any suggestions?!

Do you mean an SACD player? Stereo or multichannel? HDMI or analogue connection?

I have a pair of B&W 602 S3 speakers which I intend to use in our den just for plain music to relax. Maybe a plain stereo will do. Analog or HDMI?! Any will do. THANKS

How about a Denon DCD-1510?

Good sound, nice looking machine...

Marantz SA-8004 (or KI Pearl Lite as it is known in Europe, I believe)

The new Oppo BDP-103 is a very nice sounding, and extremely versatile, machine whether you want stereo or surround.

I can't imagine a need that the Oppo BDP-93 or 103 can't fulfill. These units will play almost anything including sacd, dvd-audio, blu-ray including 3d, dvd includingPAL, cd and more. The ONLY drawback that I can come up with is that they are only available on-line or via phone. They are VERY easy to deal with by phone. Some have said that they are "pricey" but, I dis-agree. When all of their considerable capabilities are taken into consideration, in my opinion, they are VERY cheap.

May I also nominate an OPPO player. The 103 is the cheaper of the latest models but will be a superb Universal disc player. It is also a Digital Stream (DS) player - it is DLNA-compatible which means if you have a compatible media NAS server you can use it for streaming audio and video. And one advantage is it will not only stream up to 24bit 192k stereo sources it will also stream 5.1 multichannel as well.

You don't even need to be connected to a server to stream your hi-res music. You can use the USB port/s and stream off pen drives or (as I now do) use a portable 1TB harddrive. I have a BDP-95. :)
