Performance:   Sonics:
What a great pleasure to hear these fascinating performances on multi-channel SACD! Seiji Ozawa's and his team's - Boston Symphony Orchestra - performances are from the top level.
The opening piece, L'Tombeau de Couperin, was originally written for piano. Later Ravel orchestrated it. Here Ozawa reaches the work's lightness and beauty.
The other works are also very good. Ozawa has a clear vision and musicians follows his wishes closely.
Polyhymnia's engineering team has done - again - very impressive work with the original quadraphonic tapes. The disc has been recorded at the Boston Symphony Hall in 1974. The crystal clear DSD mastering offers the best sound quality. The surround speakers captures the Concert Hall's acoustics perfectly. It is hard to believe that these approaches are recorded forty years ago! Highly recommend for all Ravel fans! I'm looking forward the next releases of the series...
