Excellent disc by Elly Ameling. Although she was mainly a lieder and oratorio interpreter, she very rarely ventured into the opera-house. But she included a few Mozart arias in her recital programmes.
Several of these are contained in this discs, as well as a selection of Schubert pieces that, even today, may be termed rarities. But they are all first rate compositions.

Ameling sings the entire programme with a radiant tone, detailed vocal inflection and charm. She is able partenerd by both orchestras and conductor.

Ths sound is excellent, up to the usual high standards of this label.
