This is very nice, relaxing jazz album with the addition of strings. I have read some of the reviews regarding this sacd. Certain people do not like the addition of the strings. This sort of combination in music has been going on for quite a long time in jazz music. At least since the 1950's and there are many examples, some on sacd, where strings are added to create a sort of hot/cold feel to the music. Strings were also included in many sound track music as well and perhaps this is the reason some listeners have a negative feel for it.

I will only say that it does not bother me in the least because the strings only accentuate the music not overpower it. Sometimes it's added for the duration of the track and at other times only here and there. But it's never bothersome.

The music is straight jazz that is lyrical and mellow for the most part. I enjoy all the tracks save for a few that sound alike. But all in all it makes for a very enjoyable listen.

This recording however is absolutely fabulous. You will hear this for yourself how important the recording process is. The electric guitar sounds real and it's tone is captured extremely well. The recording has great depth, the instruments are very realistic sounding and the interplay between all the musicians is terrific. There is also great layering of instruments in this recording and good sound stage. The sound is real, warm and thick. Nice lower end too.
There are certain recordings that simply sound very alive and realistic and this is one of them.

Highly recommended. Pump up the volume a little you will love the sound.
