Review by Jijagua March 8, 2010 (7 of 8 found this review helpful)
Performance:   Sonics:
This is an absolutely beautiful recording. The dynamic range is unreal and it's easy to hear the sonic location of each instrument. The sound stage is pretty wide and has some really good depth. It's wonderful to turn on the CD full blast and hear only the music come through - with absolutely no residual noise.

The performance is very good. The high points are very strong and each instrument is played very well. This is about as good a version of the Organ Symphony as I've ever heard. The pacing is a tad slower than most versions, but no less sure handed.

Then there's Danse Macabre - perhaps my favorite single piece of classical music. On this CD it is wonderfully done, and the crescendo is very potent (goose bumpy). As the rest of the CD, the pacing on this track is just slightly slower than most versions I've heard. However, I would have to say that the pacing, combined with the more intricate violin, reminds me of Dutoit's version (which also happens to be my favorite version).

The CD clocks in at a little less than 46 minutes, so I wish they could have found more Saint-Saens to put in, but I now have a reference CD for the Organ Symphony and Danse Macabre.
