Chesky hit this one right out of the park. A stellar release in every way. This is modern jazz performed by some classic musicians covering older hit songs. The recording is magnificent with the trumpet sound one of the best I have ever heard on sacd. Micro dynamics and the complete tonal range captured on this instrument. Chesky records in high rez pcm but its fabulous sound.

This disc is extremely mellow and laid back so if you are tired I wouldn't recommend playing it. That would be counter productive. If you want to chill with some cold beverage and are in the mood for fine jazz.............or some romantic moments.....................this is the disc to grab. The listener has to be in the right frame of mind to appreciate this disc.

As with most Chesky disc the engineers have worked their particular magic. If you read the liner notes on their recording philosophy this will tell you why their discs are among the very best out there.

This disc must be played loud......louder than usual. Absolutely no compression here. As mentioned its very mellow sound, track after track. Drum work is basically brush work and accents and the bass helps keep time.
But the electric guitar has some fine moments and some good solos. The trumpet, however is the star on this disc. Usually its laid back only to suddenly engulf the room with its magical sound and presence. Its tonal range is simply beautiful to hear. Soft and powerful notes all rendered perfectly.

Yes.I love this disc.

Highly recommended.

Excellent job from Chesky. And play it very loud.

As with all Chesky records, SACD or not, the sound is intimate and superb. This album features some great players, and if you can close your eyes and picture Roy Hargrove in the place of Miles Davis, you will love this CD. This is a very laid back and mellow album; Mr. Cob rarely lays down the brushes, it seems. The bass of Mr. Webber could have been a little more prominent (or featured); I feel it was overshadowed by Mr. Malone and Mr. Hargrove most of the time.
Definitely a good album to have at the price and enjoy with a glass of your favourite beverage with the lights low.

Spectacular presence and imagery. Performance is dazzling, especially Roy Hargrove.
