Here is the long-awaited re-edition on SACD of these legendary interpretations dating from the end of the 1950s. Mission accomplished thanks to the label Praga Digitals with a well-done DSD stereo remastering. This copious program dedicated to Claude Debussy brings together “La Mer,” “Salut Printemps” for soprano, female chorus and orchestra, three “Nocturnes” (Nuages, Fêtes, Siènes with female chorus), “Marche Ecossaise,” “Invocation” for tenor, male chorus and orchestra, and “Jeux,” a danced poem. The soprano Nadine Sautereau, the tenor Michel Caron, the chorus of the Radio Diffusion Française led by René Allix, the horn player Etienne Baudo, and the orchestra of the national theatre of the Paris opera that Manuel Rosenthal directs truly come alive for what is nothing else but one of the most beautiful tributes to French music.
