Performance:   Sonics:
Unfortunately , as of late good acoustic guitar sacds are not represented very much. Especially if you like pure dsd recordings. This is one of them.

Ms. Kohno is a talented guitarist and on this release she covers some of the material that others have recorded like Back and of course Stanley Meyers but she also recorded some native Japanese composers work......which I enjoyed very much.

Whether you will like this recording depends on how you like the acoustic guitar to sound. We all have our preferences. Some like a closely miked performance, others like the wooden sound and feel of the body of the instrument......others like steel strings and the upper register and there are those who prefer a lot of reverberation mixed on with the sound of the guitar..
If you are a tad flexible in your likes you will enjoy this disc. Her playing is quite good and she can also get into the complicated chord structures on some of these pieces. She is somewhat close to the mike but not at the edge of the speakers. The hall has a little reverb but not to much. Not much body or wood to be heard but there is the feelings of fingers on strings. The treble region is delicate, soundstage solid and her presence is felt.

In short.....this is a good, solid dsd recording and the disc is a nice addition to my growing, albeit smallish dsd guitar collection.

Very much recommended and a solid and enjoyable recording and performance.

This sacd must be played loudly.
