As I now own this on both the SACD and BDA format, I think it is fair to review and compare. Review? Well it’s the best Punk album of all time, enough said. The BDA is excellent and thoroughly recommended to hi-res Pistol fans. Give ‘Pretty Vacant’ some volume and you’ll be pogoing around the room, singing along and no doubt getting strange looks from your kids, dog and cat, when you scream out “but noooow! and we don’t caaaare!” but hey they need that baptism to one of the greatest defining moments in popular music.
In comparison to the SACD, well the SACD has the edge. It is just a little bit more punk – e.g. from the opening guitar of ‘Holidays In The Sun’ it’s just a bit more raspier, more edgy. But if cost is an issue the BDA is the next best thing. Sonically it is as clean as the SACD presentation of this classic punk album.
You do get extra studio (b-sides) and concert recordings as well.
Again, excellent stuff and highly recommended to the discerning (ex)punk.

Wow what surprise this was.
Only have the original UK vinyl from '77(?)
Anyway this BD sounds great. Very clean and crankable.
Perhaps the recording was done simply and without any futzing.
Highly recommended.
As with most things time takes the edge off things.
I remember playing this in my dorm room and getting angry yells to turn that sh!t off!!
That was back when Styx, Boston etc. ruled the campuses.
