Kal: You column was the only thing I enjoyed in Stereophile in the two years I subscribed to it. I also voted last month. I did not renew my subscription. I vote by putting my money where my interest lies. And I purchase a lot of multichannel hi rez albums. You can tell JA his magazine wasn't worth the $18 subscription fee. I think you were lucky. I tried Amazon and got the "preorder" screen - and no less expensive discs listed. As for other reviews, Robt C. Lang has touted this at audioasylum, and barb has one today at SA-CD.net. I have the Chesky Hank Jones album, which is excellent and priced reasonably. ... more | |

As an early DVD-A purchaser, and later SACD when the multichannel players came out, I early on purchased almost everything in both formats I could find, in stores, and on line. I have all the Tacet releases - and found them uniformly the best available in recording, and in quality performances. Their chamber music recordings especially. They make ... more |
