I'm a 19 year old college student at UW-Madison. I figured that SACD was worth getting into, it's actually music that I am willing to pay for as opposed to so much of the other crap that's out there right now. I looked into DVD-A and other than the funny double entendre it poses, it's the inferior standard. In case you're wondering why my ratings are all so high right now, it's because I bought only the discs I knew I would love right off the bat. Give me time and I will learn to hate.

Seeing that this album was rereleased on SACD was the precipitating factor behind my purchase of my SACD system. I had been leaning towards a purchase, but I was willing to shell out a few hundred more for a system with SACD capabilites once I saw the ad for this. There is a reason that Dark Side ... more
Beck: Sea Change      (1 of 2 found this review helpful)

I Have seen Beck on his Sea Change tour twice now and I think that hearing this SACD is a close second to being 5 rows away from the man himself, and significantly better than seeing him in a big venue. I had the CD version, and I didn't know what the engineers could do to an album like Sea Change ... more
Stan Getz and Joao Gilberto: Getz/Gilberto      (2 of 3 found this review helpful)

I have never heard the performers breathing before in my life. A new level of depth is truly apparent over all other versions I have ever heard. Before every note Stan Getz plays, before every line Astrud Gilberto sings, you can hear their breath, and this gives the music a much more intimate feel, ... more
Dave Brubeck Quartet: Time Out      (1 of 2 found this review helpful)

I've loved this album ever since I first heard it, and I was not let down by the newly remastered SACD form of it. Every aspect of the music is so discrete, every cymbal crash, every piano key, it's amazing. Anyone who has any interest in Jazz whatsoever needs ot listen to this one.

Rush SACD's?
August 6, 2003
I heard somewhere that there are to be 5 Rush SACD's coming out at some point in the near future. Does anyone know any specifics as to release dates in the states? I feel that Prog Rock is a relatively untapped genre as far as SACD goes. DSOTM has recieved an incredible response, and hopefully the record companies will take note of the increased ... more
