Hello All, There's a middle ground to be found here! We do LOTS of productions in DSD. Postproduction possibilites are somewhat more limited than with PCM, but the situation is constantly improving. Sorry for the late reply... The circumstances surrounding the Bach Pilgrimage tour unfortunately didn't allow for DSD recording. We only got confirmation that we would record the whole tour 2 weeks before we started, and then we were off to a different venue almost every week -- most of which we never saw before we arrived. This recording was made in DSD both in London and in Denver Colorado. In London we bought over our own gear, and in Denver we used a combination of our own gear and equipment borrowed from the SACD center then located in Boulder. Hello Chaz, We make a lot of very long 5.0 multichannel + stereo SACD's. Just authored one today of 79 minutes, and the recent Concertgebouw Brass SACD was well over 80. Mostly it's the CD that's the limiting factor for us. Our experiences is that the .1 channel does use up quite a bit of space, even if the material on it (as usual) is limited to ... more
