6 Great Jazz (albums from the Blue Note catalogue)        (6 of 10 found this review helpful)
  July 21, 2015

So Esoteric have taken on their second genre, Jazz or should that be Classical Jazz in keeping with the classical theme. I thought well and hard before purchasing as it is expensive and I already have 2 of these albums, Somethin’ Else and Blue Train, released on the Classic label HDAD 24/192 series ... more
Penderecki: Credo - Penderecki        (2 of 2 found this review helpful)
  October 20, 2014

This SACD is part of a project by the Polish Radio National Symphony Orchestra that was known as ‘The Sacred Triptych’. The project celebrated the 70th birthdays of the three Polish composers: Krzysztof Penderecki’s "Credo", Henryk Mikolaj Górecki’s Symphony No. 3 "Symphony of Sorrowful Songs" and ... more
Tchaikovsky: Ballet suites - Karajan      (4 of 4 found this review helpful)
  May 10, 2014

This is deserving of a review. First this is not the complete ballet scores but excerpts. Karajan never conducted or recorded any of Tchaikovsky's ballets in full as far as I know. This is a high-res release of an original CD from the Decca Legends series. I think Karajan is just a complete master ... more
Mozart: Requiem - Butt        (2 of 5 found this review helpful)
  April 29, 2014

Here is my simple review. I have a number of Mozart Requiem recordings including the other Linn Scottish Chamber Orchestra/Mackerras recording. But overall an excellent collection of Jazz/Swing ... more

HighResAudio have ELO - Out Of The Blue on their preview window due for release on 13.11.2015. Don't know the resolution yet and no doubt Qobuz and HDTracks will follow but after the disappointment of MOFI cancelling the SACD release a few years back I am really looking forward to this. ... more

5.1 surround from the stereo sources
August 20, 2015
Yes you can. A few years ago I played around with this on a variety of different recordings with some excellent results. I used a program called 'HD-Audio Solo Ultra' which lets you produce 5.1 @ 24/48. This may have improved as I have not played with the app for a while. Produce excellent 5.1 versions of the following albums: Brian Eno - ... more
