Meat Loaf: Bat Out Of Hell      (3 of 3 found this review helpful)

A great artist let down by a sub-standard SACD. I don't have the CD version so decided to buy this as I generally like Meat-Loaf's somgs but hadn't brought any of his cds. Firstly it is a pity that it is not a hybrid disc, I don't really understand why certain companies don't make their discs ... more

Another good Telarc release, (it is my least fav. of the Telarc releases I own, 1812 and Beatles been the others both also by Kunzel & the Cincinnati Pops) there are tracks I like and others I'm not so keen on. It also incudes one track which is a 40sec period when you hear a hunt pass you by before ... more

The best SACD I own so far and the first one I ever brought (about 2 1/2 years ago I think), on basis of reviews elsewhere I brought this and took it with me when I went shopping for my SACD player. (I decided on a Sony DVP-NS900V dvd-v & SACD player because it was the best I heard in my available ... more

An interesting mix of the Orchestra or the King Singers on their own and both together. It's a good, fun cd, with good sonics, whilst personally I don't rate this as highly as Telarc's 1812 (this is the same conductor and orchestra) it's still good fun. It's a pity that some of the orchestral song ... more

This is judging on classical recordings but the RQR range by Pentatone which are all recordings that where originally made for release on Philips Quadrophonic lable (4 channel LP) are increadibly good. They had the sense to leave it with just the 4 channels instead of uping it to 5.1. These recordings easily are better than some of the new straight ... more
Voting on Naxos.com

Why do you recon they are bogus acording to naxos website you are blocked from voting more than once in a week so they should be fairly reliable I would have thought. Does anyone know how the two rival formats are doing in terms of the numbers sold of each type? ... more

The .1 channel on certain discs is used as a height channel (ie. Telarc 1812) so is it getting used like that in this case or is it just for bass. I've heard but never tested with the 1812 (only have 5 speakers) that connecting it to a pair (both playing the same information in a mono configuration) of small dipole speakers helps to improve the ... more
Could you add a value rating to the reviews?

Originally I meant to do with pricing but I think in retrospect that probably wouldn't work, mainly thinking of the £15 waste of money at MVC on the Meat Loaf Bat Outta Hell SACD. It wold be nice to have some way however of labelling a reference type disc. This would enable people to get an idea of what discs people think are best for putting your ... more
Missing SACD title

Is it me or doesn't the Sony Sampler that they distributed free in the UK with SACD players (I understand thats what happened with it - I paid a £1 on a carboot fair for mine the person who had it couldn't play it.) appear on this site. I think it's Ultimate Collection Vol. 2 & 3 but not 100% on that, I'll check at home. It has a few multichannel ... more
