Great Film Fantasies - Kunzel          (1 of 2 found this review helpful)

I cannot honestly recommend this one. The orchestra's performance just cannot match John Williams' original. I never thought I was say this, but I'd recommend the original CD, and just wait until they release the original recording on SACD. I say this being a fan of the originals. But if you're not ... more

This album contains so much bass I don't know how it could be truly enjoyed on vinyl back in the day. I would think it would make the needle skip if it was cranked. But SACD makes the funky grooves come alive and grab a-hold of ya. I use this SACD for bass testing on other's systems. "Vein Melter" ... more

The Pink Panther theme does sound awesome! In face, this CD seems to be the 'quietest' CD in my carousel, meaning it retains all the dynamic range and is not 'loud' what-so-ever. And when I crank up the volume - it sounds awesome. There's deep, impacting bass, and full orchestra sound and feel. I'm ... more

And especially since it was a straight to DSD recording, which I was looking for anyway. And it's worth it, ... more

I'm gonna contact Null Corp somehow. But in the meanwhile, I've started this petition: http://www.gopetition.com/petition/42807.html Maybe this will encourage Sony and Null to think more about the best audio format: DSD. ... more
When will The Social Network be on SACD?

I've got the Social Network soundtrack on regular CD and it sounds great. This is just the kind of recording that would be great on SACD. Is there anyone or a company I can petition to encourage an SACD release? ... more
Norah Jones on SACD

No, I haven't heard of any release. Now that I've thawt about it, I see her last CD didn't make it to SACD. Yikes. So this one won't be on SACD unless it is commercially successful. But I am gonna get the vinyl. Isn't that a shame? That vinyl sells better than SACD. ... more

Any Hybrid disadvantages?
November 23, 2009
Are there any disadvantages to a hybrid SACD? Such as space or time taken away from the DSD track? Or less quality in the DSD track? Or is it just another layer and it takes nothing away from the original? ... more
