Tune thy Musicke to thy Hart - Stile Antico          (2 of 12 found this review helpful)

This SACD has such a metallic high end that it is unlistenable. The music is also very boring. One of the worst if not the worse SACD I own.
This England - Kalmar          (2 of 14 found this review helpful)

The sound quality of this disc is as good as SACD gets - especially the cuts from Peter Grimes. Try cut 10 "Storm". RVW symphony No. 5 is a snooze at least to me. This disc was recorded, mixed and mastered in the USA. I would to see them start recording the many top notch orchestras in the United ... more

Whenever I see LSO Live I know the sound quality wiill be awful but then I read a good review and I buy the disc. It is not the halls fault. I have been in Barbican and the sound quality was magnificent - not at all dry. This disc in two channel was totally two dimensional. No depth at all. No ... more
Schumann: Symphonies Nos. 1 & 3 - Paavo Järvi          (7 of 19 found this review helpful)

This is a flat two dimensional, thin, somewhat bright sounding SACD. The interpretation is quite joyful although I am no Schumann expert but the sound is strikingly bad. I listen in two channel.
Richard Strauss: Josephs Legende - Fischer          (6 of 14 found this review helpful)

I purchased this based on the SACD.net reviews and the fact that I basically like Richard Strauss. This is definitely not first rate Strauss. There is little to distinguish the beginning from the middle and end of the piece. There is good reason that the piece has fallen out of favor. What was ... more

I am a only a consumer of SACDs not a manufacturer or distributer. Why should I need to submit this SACD? Are you saying that the only way you will review a new release if for someone sends you a free copy to review? I assume most manufacturers would find it in their best interest to do that, but this I suspect is a small company that may not be ... more

I listen in stereo. This is not a great 2 channel recording as pertains to sound quality. There is a bright edge to the treble in some sections of the disc and the sound stage is smeared. Still the overall sound quality is very good just not outstanding. Excellent performance in my opinion. ... more

The insert mentions that the "extra clarity" of the recording is due to the 48 microphones that are used in the recording process. Enough said. ... more

There is a decided digital edge to this SACD. It is so bad that I would not buy this SACD. This is a 1995 digital recording. No reason to make a SACD out of it - just an unlistenable CD would have been fine. Sonically I would give this 2 stars. ... more
