Steven Wilson: Hand. Cannot. Erase      (5 of 5 found this review helpful)
  March 15, 2015

This is a review of the multi-channel LPCM only. This is a masterpiece of surround supporting some very good material by Steven Wilson. I will start with the strengths, followed by the nits. Strengths: There's a good chance that everything that got 5 stars to this point will need to be downgraded ... more
Bryan Adams: Reckless      (5 of 6 found this review helpful)
  November 27, 2014

The sound in multichannel and stereo is very good. MCH bass is a tad light but from midrange and higher it's great. It's not an aggressive mix with the rear channels proving a nice fill to the mostly frontal emphasis. Stereo seems to have better bass. Both versions provide great clarity. I ... more
Stan Getz and Charlie Byrd: Jazz Samba        (3 of 3 found this review helpful)
  September 6, 2013

What is it about some music that seems best suited to group listening? Is it because of the movie where the sleazy bachelor claps his hands causing the lights to dim as a record falls onto the platter (and its inevitably Latin jazz) while the impressionable young woman looks on? Or is it that other ... more

The previous reviews pretty well sum up the excellent playing and overall excellent sonics of this recording. I do note one slight issue on my system and that is the constant low sub woofer rumble on track 6. Not present on the other tracks, but it's there on 6. It's as if the orchestra next door ... more
Patsy Cline: Greatest Hits        (6 of 6 found this review helpful)
  June 13, 2013

Cline's big hits were always favorites of mine ever since I can remember. I was ambivalent about this issue because this is a flat transfer from the original master used for the Greatest Hits compilation. (Flat transfer? Seems like anyone can do that! Also I was concerned these might be other than ... more

Agree. I have decided that I am going to embrace the new site. It still has a lot of information and will find it helpful for separating me from my hard earned cash. Will miss some of the personalities here, especially from some of the more knowledgable folks. It would be nice if said folks could post the occasional article on the site but it is ... more

Have taken a look at the new site the last couple of days and I think that over time I will get used to it. The artwork covers aren't large enough on my iPad to let me see what the SACDs are about, just like here, but at least here I have the "title" information I can read. Numerous small nits as well. I may learn some site specific workarounds ... more

I agree. Great sounding treatment in MCH. The drums are particularly well done. Haven't listened to this one in a long time. I think I will dig it out this weekend. ... more

I thought the MCH of Best of the Guess Who sounded very good. Not great but pretty close. But still, given the time period, it is probably the best these will ever sound. Absolutely love "Undun." I never realized that was their song. A surprisingly versatile band. ... more

Couldn't agree more. I used to HATE Bread, but this has made me completely reassess. I don't know if it's a late in life hormone problem but I love the soft rock vibe of this. The musicianship is impeccable. ... more
