It seems that earlier Laser Assemblies have a more robust build, made to last. To tell you the truth, I have had problems with my original Assembly of the SCD-XA9000ES from the moment I purchased it. stvnharr, Your are correct, it was purchased from Liberty. I have emailed them with the information on my findings. Thanks for your reply, at some point I will return the Laser Head to the new Assembly and swap the Hub, but for now since it is working fine I will forgo having to take the player apart again. Thanks CR, Always willing to share with the Community. Oh another note, I did not have to do any adjustments to the replacement, it was plug and play. One other hint, when replacing the ribbon cable attach it to the laser Head assembly, then to the logic board. Also there is a blob of solder that also needs to be removed from the Laser Head ... more | |

I was able to find a replacement KHM-230AAA transport on ebay, the item was Under $50 dollars and was sourced from China, shipped from Florida.
