Why bother with this two channel disc, when the original Sony/CBS issue was MCH and in surround?
Ravel, Debussy, Massenet - Jean-Efflam Bavouzet        (2 of 12 found this review helpful)

OOM-PAH-PAH, OOM-PAH-PAH... This is disc contains the most prosaic and pedestrian performance of the middle movement of the Ravel Concerto in G that I have ever heard. Bavouzet and Tortelier sound like they are in such a hurry they completely miss the point of the most beautiful, lyrical melody ... more

Great performances, but TERRIBLE, compressed sonics... DO NOT BUY SECOND HAND... Not worth the money... It is bad on RBCD and TERRIBLE on SACD...

Excellent performance by a brilliant Dutch wind ensemble of one of the great masterpieces of wind-band music. The audience finally makes its presence known by their applause at the end, and it is very well deserved. This is a phenomenal disc. BRAVO!!! I won't write more, as the previous reviews ... more

I have no argument with Robert von Bahr... I really think he is an artist with a microphone, but poor orchestra playing is still poor orchestra playing, no matter how much insults want to be hurled by a producer, who has a financial interest in selling discs, no matter what. I just happens the emperor's clothes are sometimes lacking... I really ... more

Three problems... The organ in Sala Sao Paulo is electronic and very poorly voiced for the hall. Most fine digital instruments are balanced by the factory to really fill the air volume of the hall... The other problem with this orchestra is that the trombone section cannot play in tune, due to embouchure problems and poor slide technique. They ... more

Has anyone looked at the latest postings on the EMIMusic website? The idiots that run the label make it IMPOSSIBLE to find the SACD discs via search... The recorded music industry continues to be in the hands of the people who destroyed it... UGH ... more

I really don't see the value in most of the late Klemperer recordings, unless one is needing an electronic soporific... UGH... The Mahler "Das Lied" and "Symphony No.2" are quite good, but Mozart and Mendelssohn??? UGH... ... more
