Sviatoslav Richter's recording of the Well-tempered Clavier is my favourite rendition … I prefer it to even that of Glenn Gould. If you like your Bach transformed into elevator muzac, then this is the disc for you. I find it bland and boring, and ever so dull. Bach's music famously transcribes well to almost anything … but alas not here. Here it seems heavy, banal and trifling … lacking its usual complexity and any subtlety ...

This must be one of the worst sounding SACDs I have had the misfortune of purchasing: the sound is completely 'digital' - harsh and grainy. Awful. And if the sonics are dubious, I am not sure why anyone would want to specially purchase this as a SACD. What can be its raison d'être? It doesn't seem ...

This is unquestionably the finest performance of Mozart's requiem I have yet heard on SACD .... Karajan's performance on SACD is scarred by a woeful performance by the choir. Harnoncourt's SACD version was not to my taste at all, and decidedly mediocre. This version is stately, grand, reverential, ...
