One of the best sounding SACDs available. It's amazing that an album this old can be so incredibly difficult to reproduce. Out of the five SACD players I own, only the best two can play this disc without screwing up the extremely challenging dynamics and high-frequency content here. |

The stereo layer on here is way too bright, can't stand listening to it. I much prefer the MoFi CD to this SACD, as stereo versions go. Haven't listened to the multi-channel version enough to really rate its sonics, it didn't sound all that compelling either when I quickly browsed through it. |

This SACD is a disappointing step backwards from the quality of the earlier Gabriel albums on SACD. The "Melting Face" SACD sounds immensely better than this one does. SACD "So" seems a touch cleaner for some reason than the original CD, but it's not a big change. And I hate the running order on ... more |

The opening three tracks to this album are among the best the Police ever recorded, even though some of the others are pretty bad. The regular CD release is terrible; hard to listen to because it's so harsh and distorted. The SACD is no classic, most of the problems are clearly from the master here. ... more |

The thing to realize about this one is that the sound quality varies a lot from track to track. Some songs sound as dull/weird as they always have on CD. But there are a couple where this SACD version really sounds impressive. "Wrapped Around My Finger" is the best example; the percussive "pop" ... more |
