Stereo SACD sounds seriously limited by the quality of the original master tapes. Didn't find all that much to get excited about here compared to the MoFi CD release of this one, dynamics and general resolution haven't changed that much from the original CD version. Both the SACD and CD layers on this one sound similar. On the stereo SACD, it's not a subtle mastering at all: a bit on the compressed side, even background instruments all jump right out at you. I think that's how they intended the mix to come out though, so it doesn't bother me; not surprised that ... more |

The regular CD of this album sounds terrible, so if you like it this hybrid version is a huge step up. As for the stereo SACD, the mastering definitely leans toward a "pop" sort of sound though.
