I have one disc, only one, from Elvis. I've got to feel ashamed? Just one? not a bit 'little?
it certainly is not much, but... certain songs, certain musicians, some voices ... are so well known that... almost not worth it to have them in the house ... so ... you hear them all the time on radio.

Like many sick in the head lovers of classical music this is actually the third different Shm Sacd of Holst that I bought. I have already reviewed the Ozawa sacd which is awesome and I also liked the Karajan Shm Sacd version as well but slightly less. I was very curious about this Mehta recording ... more |

I have this album on vinyl and CD and was interested to hear this remixed SACD.
This is a bit of a quirky album to be sure with Joe exercising some orchestral talent with Pavane and Song for Emma then flipping 180 with All Night Laundry Mat Blues which does not quite fit...however...they do sound ... more |

Releases like this make me scratch my head sometimes, although mainly in terms of what else there would be in the majors' vaults to remaster and release in high-resolution). Strauss's "Ein Heldenleben" tells a story of the strong hero which finally leaves the world with the moving farewell. This SACD was my first impression of the work - before that the tone poem was really unknown for me.
