If you only ever buy one classical guitar sacd then this should be it.It took me years to aquire it and after a very boring Magic Box disc of his and a very hissy and less than perfect transfer to disc of the Julian Bream Living stereo this 74 minutes scrubs up very well.Very very low uneven tape hiss does not detract from a very solid up front presentation.Curious why this was retitled from the Spanish Guitar favourite to this title which appears as track 4.Probably every Spanish piece you could want in a collection apart from Ritual fire Dance and Rods guitar concerto (review next?)
Compared to Bream these Williams performance have more bite and he is quicker to get into a faster rhythm.Star tracks. All 21..Booklet totally in Japanese.

I ordered this from the UK as I love classical guitar music. I did not have any recrdings by John Williams but knew him to be a great guitarist. I was not disappointed with this purchase in the least.......................even if it did cost me 15 pounds.

There are two seperate recording dates on this album. One from 1964 and the other from 1969. The former contains a more laid back feel while the latter recordings are a bit more spirited and are at times explosive.
The mastering and transferring of this sacd is extremely good. There is no compression so feel free to turn the volume up. The original recording is not closely miked so you dont hear breathing, cloths ruffling, fingers on the strings or chair squeaks. Just a rather laid back (but solid sound wise) performance from a premier classical guitarist who plays wonderfully throughout the entire album.
This is an excellent sacd and a terrific acoustic guitar album.

Highly recommended.
