Mi first review on sa-cd.net. I found this Tosca really beautiful and therefore, despite of being my english poor, i decided to write something.
Sir Colins Davis choose a slow and paced reading: every little particular is udible. Well done and "chapeau" to Covent Garden Orchestra. Jose Carreras is a fantastic Mario Cavaradossi, with epic tones and good modulation of his voice (very intense and strong before illness). Monserrat Caballè sings one of the best Floria Tosca of the last 30 years. Ingvar Wixell is a convincing Scarpia. In the other smaller roles we have Samuel Ramey ...
Sound is beautiful: Pentatone with RQR did a GREAT job. FANTASTIC. If you like operas like me, this box is a "must".
I hope that in the future Pentatone will release other operas like this one: great performance and top quality sound !!!!
