This is perhaps the most realistic recording of a symphony orchestra I have ever heard. I was immediately struck by its vibrancy, accuracy, sense of space, tonality, dynamic range, and width and depth of soundstage. I have heard it in stereo and 5 channel surround. It is spectacular in either format.
The music is both energetic and pastoral by turns, easy to enjoy with its invigorating orchestrations and friendly harmonies. I own a few hundred SACD's and have owned even more. This might be the best. I sat down to listen for a few minutes, and, before I realized it, 70 plus minutes had gone by. I am not kidding when I say I applauded after the final note faded. I took it to a friend's house and he ordered his own copy after listening for 15 minutes.
If you have any intention of ever buying an SACD of classical music, let it be this one. There are not enough stars for the rating it deserves.
