Hello friends.

I tried to order a copy of Let It Bleed SACD Multichannel through the BestBuy web site and found that my local store supposedly had a copy of it. So I drove over and could not find it in their SACD section but I did find a bunch of ABKCO re-issues in the regular CD bins for the Stones including Let It Bleed. When I asked the manager about the descrepancy he looked it up and said there was no such SACD in his inventroy and the web site must have been wrong. Then I read of stealth SACDs of this variety from the Stones here on this forum...so could it be that I had a stealth SACD in my hands? There was nothing to indicate SACD...no swirley SACD logo or words Hybrid, Multi-channel or anything that would indicate an SACD was inside the cardboard packaging.

I have a promtional brochure distributed by Circuit City (it has Sting on the cover and is dated 9.03) which lists several hundred SACDs by record label...a number for Let It Bleed SACD MC Hybrid as 9004-2 according to this pamphlet. Can anyone confirm for me that this is the ABKCO catalogue number that I would find on the disk at my local retailer?

additional info: did a search on Tower Records site and notice an anomoly...in my pamphlet LIB is listed as a Multichannel Hybrid but Tower and SA-CD reviews list it as stereo only...guess the pamphlet is wrong. Still worth a listen though since this is one of my favorites.

They are having a promotion whereby I can get double "Reward" points for buying Stones disks by this Sunday...

Thanks!

This forum ROCKS!

ABKCO number is 719004.

I just buy it and the sound is fantastic.

But when I ask the dealer about the SACD version, he did not understand what I was talking about; he was trying to convince me that it was a remastered only. So I have to unpack the CD and show him the text explaining the hybrid concept .... Strange !!

Thanks, Ross! That was the conclusion to which my web research was leading me.

I think I will stock up on a couple of these since I get double reward points.
Let It Bleed will be first on the list. I have most of the other Stones disks up to Bridges to Babylon. The ABKCO (nee London) catalogue only goes up to More Hot Rocks and Fazed Cookies, I think. If memory serves, Virgin owns everything from Tattoo You on. Wonder when they will be released on SACD?

Update: you were right. I showed the clerks the inner packaging which specifies the SACD/Hybrid idea.

This disk sounds great! I played the cd layer on my computer at work listening with headphones and was impressed by how properly raw and rightously ragged the guitars sound...excellent! When I got it home to pay the SACD layer on my system I was stunned! Now I am a monkey too!

There is an easier way. If you have the discs physically in front of you the rule is digipack (cardboard) is SACD, and plastic jewel cases are CD. I have purchased four of the RollingStone SACDs in digipacks and they are always SACDs (so far anyway).

I have yet to see the '40 licks' in cardboard though, only the jewel case. And I got all of my RS stuff at Best Buy. The single for 'Devil' was in a jewel case, but I don't think that counts.

You know what: some stores does not know that these Cd are SACD cause it's not written on the jacket. So I bought most of the Stones SACDs and some of Dylan,s too for $15.99 (canadian) !!!

I was browsing J&R today, and saw they had "More Hot Rocks" and "Out of Our Heads UK" in digibook packaging. No mention of SACD or DSD on the packaging. I just wanted to make absolutely sure that these are in fact SACD.

And within a few hours of posting this, all but one copy of More Hot Rocks on SACD was gone. I picked up the last one.

Still a few copies of Out of Our Heads UK.

The thing to look for on the ABKCO digipack is "the original certificate sticker" on the front cover of the digipack. Alternatively see if you can open the packaging and it mentions the SACD inside.

There seem to be a lot of copies of "Aftermath Uk", "Out of our heads" and "Between the Buttons" SACD's still for sale. The quality is varied and there are plenty of fillers but there are a few Gems.

Very difficult to find "Let it Bleed" or "Hot Rocks" on ABKCO SACD.
