I considered getting the "Tommy" Super Deluxe set, but I already have the Japanese SHM-SACD (which IMHO is the best digital version I've ever heard) as well as the Deluxe Edition SACD, and my SACD player is far better than my universal spinner, anyway, so I passed.

I have the standard 2-CD set on my Christmas wish list, so if I get it, I get it. Not a terribly high priority for me right now.

2004 DVD-Audio 2ch Stereo 24/96 is based on 2004 Sacd/DSD master. I ripped the DVD-Audio and above 30Khz the ultrasonic DSD noise is present in the tracks. No need to buy DVD-Audio if you already have Sacd.

@Philip Parris

Yes SHM-SACD is the best digital version, but you are going to like the sound of drums on 1.Overture 2004 Deluxe Sacd much better than SHM-SACD.

The Who is my sister and my nephew's favorite group, and so I decided to get all the different TOMMY releases. I am still awaiting the single-layer stereo version from Japan, but I have found no comparison between the 2004 SACD and the 2004 DVD-A. The SACD is awesome, the DVD-A is dreadful. I say this, even though I am very fond of most of my DVD-A's. Both the main disc and the bonus disc sound like music on SACD and sound like noise on the DVD-A. I can hear the difference both standing right in front of my speakers and several rooms away in the house. The DVD-A has a better booklet, so not all is lost.

the DVD-A also has a very good video interview with Pete.

Thanks for pointing that out. I'm watching it now.
