Has anyone compared the SHM-SACD to the Blu Ray?

I haven't, but am impressed nonetheless on how good the SHM-SACD sounds. Nice tight bass and depth on the drums. Actually forget just what an excellent album this is. Well done issue IMHO !

With all the great review so far on the SACD, I ordered it. I do have the Blu Ray so now I can compare it myself.

Which has earned you the nickname "Double Dipper Plus!"

Heard the new packaging for the SHM~SACDs is pretty cool (come in little boxes)....I should have my Rod Stewart (Every Picture Tells A Story) and Cream's Disraeli Gears by next week (hopefully).

And if they ever come out with a surround version, I'll get that too. LOL

Universal could conceivably order a new 5.1 version if they'd dispense with all the fancy packaging!

Larger then what is accustomed to when ordering SHM-SACDs in the past. With this release you receive the Box (which is basically the album art) and housed in it is the original album art (which doubles as a CD sleeve), the lyric sheet (the same as the original sleeve found in the album), another lyric sheet (in English and Japanese) which also details some information about the transfer, etc.. and finally the CD which is now housed in a nice felt-like envelope. Very nice packaging indeed. Highly recommended.

I have the BD-A of Breakfast in America and I am not wholly impressed with it. It sounds clean and all, with good midrange and good sounding lower frequencies. But it lacks a bit of sparkle. I have had very good luck with SHM SACD's in the past and am going to order the SACD as soon as the wife gives me the go ahead. Wish we had more Supertramp in SACD to chose from.

"Take The Long Way Home" has a few references to "Wives". On that basis it should have a high "wife acceptance factor". Try to sell it on those merits (tongue planted firmly in cheek). Neither of you will be disappointed.

While springing for the SHM~SACD of Breakfast In America tell your wife that you'll treat her to a fancy champagne brunch in New Brunswick, Canada.

Should resolve ANY issues!
